The Art of Living in a Work of Art” Showcases Lancaster’s Rich Artistic Expressions at Landis Place on King
On May 15, residents, artists, and guests gathered at Landis Place on King to experience “The Art of Living in a Work of Art,” a vibrant community celebration that highlighted the unique connection between fine art and everyday living in one of Lancaster’s newest 55+ communities.
Located at 239 West King Street, Landis Place on King offers more than just housing, it offers an immersive experience in connections, beauty, and cultures. The event invited attendees to explore the extensive, carefully curated art collection through self-guided tours. Local and regional artists mingled with residents and visitors, offering insights into their creative processes and discussing the works now permanently displayed in the common areas of the building.
“Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life,” said Pablo Picasso, a quote that captured well the feel of the evening. At Landis Place on King, this philosophy is not just celebrated but lived.
The collection on display was curated by Lee Lovett, owner of Red Raven Art Company, and Deb Laws-Landis, who has overseen art acquisitions for Landis Communities for many years. Together, they assembled a diverse range of works that reflect the rich cultural heritage of Lancaster City. From evocative paintings to textured tapestries and dynamic photography, the exhibit represents a cross-section of media and voices. The art is intentionally diverse, highlighting perspectives and telling stories that resonate with the community’s residents and visitors alike.
“This is about more than decoration,” said Laws-Landis. “It’s about creating a place where people feel at home, where they are inspired, and where they see themselves reflected in the spaces they live.”
