Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology Breaks Ground on New Residence and Dining Hall Building

Member News

(Lancaster, PA) —  On Tuesday, June 2 at 10 a.m., Thaddeus Stevens College held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new residence and dining hall building at 750 E. King St. in Lancaster City.

This construction project will erect a new, 59,000-square-foot building on the Main Campus of the college, next to the Schwalm Student Center. The residence hall will be named Stevens Hall, with future naming opportunities available to College supporters, and the dining hall will be named the Michael C. Mylott Dining Hall, in memory of a former student and through the generous support of his family. The four-story structure will house residence hall rooms to accommodate 150 students, along with a dining hall for 500, mailroom, and security station. The college hosts around 1,500 students in its academic programs each year on campus, and about half of them are residents.

“This project is the next step in meeting the needs of our students, as we respond to the increased demand for enrollment Thaddeus Stevens College has experienced in recent years,” said Pedro A. Rivera II, Ed.D., president of the college. “Our mission is to create access to education; building this additional infrastructure helps us to fulfill our mission.”

Construction on the project will formally begin this month and is expected to take 18 to 24 months to complete. Buildings at Thaddeus Stevens College are owned by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and the college works closely with the state’s Department of General Services on capital projects.
