Thaddeus Stevens College Celebrates New Steinman Community Learning Center with Ribbon Cutting
(Lancaster, PA) — Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology today celebrated its newly completed Steinman Community Learning Center with a ribbon cutting. The facility, located at 420 S. Broad St. in Lancaster, will offer a childcare center operated by Community Action Partnership (CAP), community meeting space, and a STEM learning center for K – 12 students.
The center brings to life the college’s commitment to removing barriers and creating opportunity for education, such as introducing STEM-focused careers to younger students or creating access to training and education with high-quality childcare.
“The Steinman Community Learning Center reflects our belief that educational opportunity is strengthened when communities invest in families, support systems, and early exposure to the possibilities of learning,” said college President Dr. Pedro A. Rivera II. “This space brings those elements together as we focus on creating access to education and a bright future.”
The two-story, 14,000 square-foot center will have space for about 50 children in the childcare center and offer additional support services for families through CAP’s Thrive to Five program. A community meeting room is also on site that can host up to 75 people. The STEM learning center is part of the college’s K-16 and strategic initiatives office, with use available for educational institutions and groups connecting with the college to learn more about careers focused in technology and the trades through hands-on activities. This area will feature exploration activities in coding, robotics, automation, and advanced manufacturing concepts through age-appropriate experiences that introduce them to high-demand career fields.
The Center was intentionally designed as a community resource, providing a welcoming space for local organizations, schools, families, and partners to connect and collaborate.
