(Lancaster, PA) — Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology has launched a new one-year, fully online certificate program in Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship, giving current and aspiring small business owners the practical skills to plan, launch, grow and sustain a successful business.

The 36-credit program, available full- or part-time, covers business planning, cash flow management, accounting software QuickBooks, marketing and legal and HR compliance. Its flexible blend of synchronous and asynchronous coursework is designed for students balancing existing work or family responsibilities. Tuition for the program is currently set at $9,450 for full-time coursework. Part-time tuition rates vary based on enrollment status. Students can now enroll for the fall semester 2026.

"Our mission is to create access and opportunity to education leading to a thriving future, where our graduates can make wages sustaining families and building community-wide impact,” said President Pedro A. Rivera II, Ed.D. “This program creates another avenue for someone with aspiring entrepreneurial spirit to gain practical experience they can apply directly to their dreams. Whether the industry is trade or technology focused, or verticals such as retail or food services, these courses will provide insights and access to move forward.”

Small businesses represent 99.6 percent of all businesses in Pennsylvania, employing nearly half of the state’s workforce, according to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The average small business owner in the state earns $87,000 annually, according to a ZipRecruiter survey. Graduates of the program will be prepared for roles including small business manager, operations manager and business administrator. This certificate program is one of five the college offers, joining its 24 associate degree options and professional development and workforce training at its Workforce and Economic Development Center.
