Volunteer Public Service Opportunity
Description:
The City of Lancaster is seeking a committed volunteer to serve on the Redevelopment Authority of the City of Lancaster’s (RACL) Board of Directors. RACL works hand-in-hand with the City of Lancaster to remediate severely blighted properties and redevelop underutilized areas. As part of a five-member board, directors review rehabilitation proposals, advise on investment and operations policies, make decisions on the disposition of properties, and craft strategies for redevelopment.
Service Expectations:
- Adherence to City of Lancaster’s standards for professional conduct.
- Term of service is five (5) years.
- Attendance at bi-monthly regular meetings (six [6] per year) and occasional special meetings.
- Volunteer commitment is estimated at approximately six (6) hours per month.
Requirements:
- Must be a legal adult (18 years and over) and either live in or own and operate an active business within the Lancaster City limits.
- RACL Board Members are also appointed to serve on the City of Lancaster Land Bank Authority. The Land Bank Authority meets immediately before RACL Regular Meetings. The six-hour per month volunteer commitment estimate above includes this added function.
Desired Qualifications:
- Professional qualifications and experience in the real estate sector such as sales, investment, analysis, and development.
- Experience in real estate finance or urban development finance.
