Miller’s Smorgasbord Employee Sabruna Jean Michele Honored with Pennsylvania Bus Association's "Employees of Distinction" Award
Ronks, PA — Thomas E. Strauss, Inc. and Miller’s Smorgasbord are proud to announce that team member Sabruna Jean Michele has been named a 2025 “Employee of Distinction” by the Pennsylvania Bus Association (PBA), an honor awarded to outstanding individuals in the motorcoach and tourism industries who exemplify excellence in service, leadership, and community impact.
The award was presented at the PBA’s annual Marketplace Networking Reception held Monday, March 24 at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim, PA. The program recognizes employees from member companies across the state who go above and beyond in serving passengers, supporting their company’s mission, and contributing positively to their communities.
Sabruna Jean Michele has been employed with Thomas E. Strauss, Inc. at Miller’s Smorgasbord since April 2023. She began in a third-shift janitorial position and quickly stood out for her strong work ethic, initiative, and eagerness to grow. Within a short time, Sabruna was cross trained into multiple roles including cooking, dishwashing, supervising, and translating.
“As soon as we met Sabruna, we could see she was special,” said Tabetha Carbaugh, General Manager of Miller’s Smorgasbord. “She exudes excellence and has exceeded our expectations in the little bit of time she has been with us. Sabruna is quite an asset to our company, and we are thankful to have her as a part of our team. She consistently works hard every day to help grow the business and take care of our guests. No task is too small or too big for Sabruna.”
Originally from Haiti, Sabruna legally immigrated to the United States several years ago. Her native language is French Creole, but she has since learned English, Spanish, and Portuguese—making her a vital translator and resource at Miller’s. She regularly assists with meetings, interviews, training sessions, and communication across departments, serving as a trusted advocate for her peers.
Sabruna was honored internally as Miller’s Employee of the Month in 2024 and was named the 2025 Employee of the Year this past January by her colleagues and management team.
“Sabruna’s impact on our team and our guests cannot be overstated,” said Tom Neely, CEO, Thomas E. Strauss, Inc. “She embodies the spirit of hospitality and the heart of who we are.”
