LancasterHistory's 'History Happy Hour' Series 'Levels Up' at Decades with History, Video Game Connections
LANCASTER, PA — LancasterHistory is excited to announce the next installment in the History Happy Hour series, which will take place on Monday, March 10 at Decades Lancaster.
March's History Happy Hour is diving deep into the history of the building now occupied by vintage arcade, bowling alley, and restaurant Decades. The building at 438 N. Queen Street opened in 1916 and was named the Stahr Armory in 1956 after Lancaster doctor and Brigadier General of the Medical Corp of the Pennsylvania National Guard Dr. Charles P. Stahr. For over 100 years, the armory has taken turns serving as home to the Pennsylvania National Guard, the Lancaster Red Roses of the Continental Basketball Association, and as a community space for food bazaars and performances. Today, the armory is a stunning application of adaptive reuse. Decades has transformed a previously closed, historic facility into a popular destination that entertains locals and visitors alike. The main presentation of March 10's History Happy Hour will feature three speakers discussing the building's role in Lancaster's military, sports, and media history.
“LancasterHistory is thrilled to be bringing History Happy Hour to Decades, a venue that has been witness to some remarkable moments in Lancaster’s history” said Mabel Rosenheck, Director of Education and Exhibition Planning. “From General Charles P. Stahr and NBA great Cazzie Russell to Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, this event will have stories for everyone, even those who think they don’t like history.”
History Happy Hour will take place on Monday, March 10 from 5:30 – 7:30pm at Decades Lancaster, 438 N. Queen Street, Lancaster, PA. Doors open at 5:30pm and the main program will begin at 6pm.
