LancasterHistory, Lancaster AAPI to Host Open House and Reception at Museum Celebrating New Exhibit
LANCASTER, PA — On Saturday, April 12 from 3 - 6pm, LancasterHistory and Lancaster Asian American and Pacific Islanders (LAAPI) will host a free open house and reception celebrating the current exhibit, Pathways of Persistence: AANHPI Legacies in Lancaster County, at LancasterHistory's 230 N. President Avenue location.
Pathways of Persistence is a collaboration between LancasterHistory and LAAPI that celebrates the impact which Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities have had in Lancaster County. Lancaster's AANHPI residents have contributed to the county's cultural, economic, and social landscape, adapting to challenges and thriving across generations. The Pathways of Persistence exhibit honors the voices and experiences that have helped shape Lancaster, bringing a light to multifaceted contributions AANHPI individuals have made in business, culture, and beyond.
“LancasterHistory is thrilled to present the exhibit Pathways of Persistence. It represents a vital step in preserving and celebrating the rich contributions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities to our region's history,” said Mabel Rosenheck, Director of Education and Exhibition Planning at LancasterHistory. “The exhibit not only honors the diverse histories and lived experiences of AANHPI individuals in Lancaster but also weaves these important narratives into our collective understanding of Lancaster County’s history.”
The Open House & Reception will take place on Saturday, April 12 from 3-6pm at LancasterHistory. Attendees will be able to view the exhibition and enjoy light fare from Momma Son's, a food vendor and caterer based in Columbia, Pennsylvania that specializes in Cambodian cuisine. At 4pm, there will be remarks from LancasterHistory, LAAPI, and community members who contributed photographs to the exhibit.
The April 12 event is free and open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome if capacity permits, but advance registration is appreciated. To attend, individuals can register online or over the phone by calling LancasterHistory at (717) 392-4633.
The Pathways to Persistence exhibit is on display at LancasterHistory through May 31, 2025.
