LANCASTER, Pa. (October 23, 2026) – The Lancaster Stormers announced the opening of the Player Development Center, a new indoor training facility at Penn Medicine Park built for year-round baseball and softball development. The center gives young athletes professional-style batting cages, regulation-style pitching mounds and dedicated defense and catching space, all under one roof at the home of the Stormers.

October Player Development Clinics are already in full swing. The next slate of programs begins Monday, November 2, with 13 clinics and multi-session series for baseball and softball players and will continue until April.

Located inside Penn Medicine Park at 650 N. Prince Street, the Player Development Center lets athletes keep training through every Pennsylvania season. The space includes:

• Batting cages – professional-style cages for working on swing mechanics and timing
• Pitching mounds – regulation-style mounds for building command and mechanics
• Defense and catching space – room for fielding, footwork and receiving work
• Indoor access – year-round training regardless of weather

Programs are led by a seven-member coaching staff: Troy Steffy (Stormers Hitting Coach), AJ Alexy (Pitching Coach), Nate Geesey (Catching Coach), Aidan Sturtevant (Infield Coach), Brionna Rinier and Jaclyn Wardrop (Softball Coaches) and Jenn Schroeder (Softball Pitching Instructor).

Our coaches do more than just say "make the adjustment", they will teach each athlete what that adjustment is!

The Stormers plan to expand the center’s offerings with winter break clinics, HitTrax hitting leagues, HR Derby’s, and Tournaments for baseball and softball, BP with the Pros, arm care programs, catcher and fielding development programs, strength and conditioning clinics, 60-yard dash training, clinics for ages 4–6, and seminars on player development, the NCAA, and “The Other Side of Hitting.”

“We train the athlete on and off the field. In addition to their athletic skills, we help them with their character and life skills. This helps them make better decisions in life, which we hear a lot of positive feedback from parents on. Now is the time to train, before it’s too late” said Troy Steffy, Baseball Operations & Hitting Coach.
