YORK, Pa. — July 22, 2024 — John Gilliland, CEO of The Investment Real Estate Group of Companies (IREGC), has been recognized with the 2024 Distinguished Alumni Award by Tyrone Area High School. This prestigious award acknowledges graduates who have significantly impacted society and brought honor to their alma mater through their professional achievements and philanthropic efforts.

Gilliland, a national leader and visionary in the self storage industry, has driven the growth of IREGC to over 100 employees across various sectors including acquisitions, construction, development, insurance, property management and asset management. IREGC boasts a portfolio of over 80 properties in nine states throughout the Mid-Atlantic, Northeast and Midwest regions. In recognition of his leadership and achievements, Gilliland was inducted into the Pennsylvania Self Storage Hall of Fame and the National Self Storage Association Hall of Fame.

Throughout his career, Gilliland has made noteworthy philanthropic contributions supporting the greater York community through the Gilliland Family Foundation. He also supports his wife Denises charitable organization, Pink Power, which raises money for local breast cancer patients in need.

Gilliland's journey in the self storage industry began in 1997 with the brokerage of his first facility in Hanover, Pennsylvania. He founded IREGC in 1998, and since then, the company has evolved into a national leader.

"I am incredibly honored to receive this recognition from Tyrone Area High School," said Gilliland. "This Distinguished Alumni Award is a testament to the collective efforts and shared vision of everyone who has been part of this journey since my early days. Together, we have built long-term relationships and remain dedicated to expanding our self storage portfolio and supporting our community and beyond."
