Jonestown, PA – August 15, 2025: Ed Martel, Jonestown Bank & Trust Co. (JBT) Chief Operating Officer, was recognized at the Pennsylvania Association of Community Bankers (PACB) Inspire Awards Ceremony as PACB’s 2025 Banker of the Year.

Troy A. Peters, JBT President & CEO, presented Martel with the award, the PACB’s highest honor.

“Ed exemplifies the spirit of community banking,” said Peters. “He is passionate about our industry and tirelessly works to develop his expertise within it. He is a champion for our employees, their growth, and success as he works to be sure everyone is seen as an individual. He is deeply involved in our community and he is ardent advocate for our clients. All of us at JBT are proud that Ed has been named PACB Banker of the Year. It’s a well-deserved honor.”

Martel did not anticipate receiving the award. “I was surprised and honored, especially since in my opinion there were over 50 other bankers in the room who were as worthy of the recognition as me,” he said. “Because that’s what we do as community bankers- we focus on our clients, our employees, our shareholders and our communities. Having a big part of the JBT team there and being presented the award by Troy made the night even more special.”

Martel’s win became even more memorable when Peters invited him up to accept the award and revealed that Martel’s parents were there as special surprise guests.

“I was thrilled that my parents could attend as they have played a significant part in my success,” said Martel.
