Murphy McCormack Capital Advisors, a trusted advisory firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), including sell-side and buy-side representation, and strategic transaction services, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Managing Director to lead and execute full-cycle transaction engagements. This individual will play a hands-on role in pre-engagement analysis, and structuring, negotiating, and closing deals, while also serving as a trusted advisor to clients. The ideal candidate combines technical financial expertise with strong relationship management skills and the ability to navigate complex transactions with confidence.

Key Responsibilities of the Managing Director

Transaction Execution & Advisory

  • Lead full-cycle transaction processes, including information gathering, pre-engagement due diligence, and financial analysis.
  • Conduct company and industry research to understand client businesses and identify value drivers.
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models to support valuation and deal structuring.
  • Prepare and review marketing materials (CIMs, profiles) to effectively position clients for potential buyers.
  • Develop targeted buyer lists and proactively engage with strategic and financial buyers.
  • Manage due diligence activities, including document review and data room management.
  • Review and comment on Letters of Intent (LOIs) and purchase agreements in collaboration with attorneys.
  • Assist in the negotiation process, advocating for client interests and helping to drive successful deal outcomes.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the transaction lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and strategic guidance.
  • Facilitate and attend buyer-seller meetings, ensuring productive dialogue and forward momentum.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, accountants, and other advisors to coordinate transaction deliverables.

Post-Agreement Support

  • Assist with preparation of initial schedules and coordination with legal counsel after execution of purchase agreements.
  • Support clients during the transition period to ensure a smooth close and integration process.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CVA designation strongly preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in M&A advisory, investment banking, private equity, accounting, commercial banking, finance or corporate development.
  • Proven ability to manage complex transaction processes and lead deal teams to successful outcomes.
  • Strong financial modeling, accounting, valuation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with a client-first approach.
  • Experience engaging directly with executives, business owners, attorneys, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
