Senior Data Analyst

Hope International's senior data analyst will serve as a lead analyst on HOPE’s data analytics team. In this role, the analyst will manage analysis projects by setting project timelines and coordinating collaboration both within the Data Analytics team and with other departments at HOPE.

The senior data analyst will serve as a lead analyst on HOPE’s data analytics team. In this role, the analyst will manage analysis projects by setting project timelines and coordinating collaboration both within the Data Analytics team and with other departments at HOPE. The analyst will also run SQL queries and utilize Power BI and/or R/Python to develop dashboards and reports required by the HOPE operations team, provide insights into key data trends, and/or provide statistical analyses in collaboration with other data analytics team members. The senior analyst will be responsible for presenting analysis findings to relevant stakeholders and representing the Data Analytics team in multi-departmental meetings. The senior analyst will also serve as a coach to other data analysts, leading collaboration amongst the team, and supporting ongoing projects.

Responsibilities


  • Promote and contribute to the fulfillment of HOPE International’s mission and vision.
  • Data Analysis and Consultation to Global Network of Programs
  • Manage data analytics projects from request to deliverables, including creating project timelines and coordinating efforts between data analysts and with other HOPE departments
  • Leverage data analytics best practices and knowledge of SQL and business intelligence tools to conduct thorough analyses of complex data from field programs across the globe; extract important insights and clearly communicate key findings to HOPE leadership; assist with communication to external audiences
  • Develop analytical models and dashboards from field-level portfolio data for HOPE International’s Microfinance and Savings Group teams to achieve strategic plan goals for automated operational reporting
  • Support data management team through data quality investigation and data extraction error identification
  • Train US-based HOPE teams on Power BI with the goal of developing self-service analysis capabilities across the organization
  • Coach other data analysts in data analytics best practices, team project workflow, and provide advanced technical support/guidance where needed
  • Enhance the capacity of field program managers and staff to support and knowledgeably use key field data applications and reporting systems
  • Consult with other HOPE departments such as the Finance, Internal Audit, Marketing and Listening, Monitoring and Evaluation teams in the development and implementation of new tools and dashboards.
  • Lead documentation and standardization efforts for how HOPE performs data analysis; suggest improvements in tools and techniques; integrate statistical analysis into traditional Power BI analyses
  • Distill and present significant findings on each country data set for which analysis is completed

  • Work with leaders to prioritize technical assistance challenges and generate creative solutions
  • Work collaboratively with the technical assistance data architecture team as needed for the development of company and team data warehouses, potentially including application research, project management support, system integration, development of reporting tools, and data quality assurance monitoring.
  • Manage relationships within interdisciplinary and cross-cultural teams including internal IT, technical assistance, finance, field program staff, and external entities, such as vendors, consultants and partner organizations.

Qualifications


  • Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, economics, or related field
  • 4-5+ years of experience in data analytics, data warehousing, computer science or related disciplines
  • Demonstrated interest in microfinance, international development, and financial services
  • Technical proficiency in SQL required, with other languages like R or Python a preferred
  • Experience with Power BI required; experience in data warehousing applications and IT support infrastructure strongly preferred
  • Experience with project management and leadership of multi-person project teams, including setting timelines and coordinating team collaboration among analysts with different skillsets.
  • Strong statistical background and experience with statistical software preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with other Microsoft Office Suite products
  • Basic finance/accounting knowledge required; Ability to conduct business and financial analysis and prepare synthesized recommendations for presentation to leadership
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including effective time management and prioritization of competing demands/multiple deadlines
  • Experience formally managing others a plus
  • Ability to speak multiple languages and cross-cultural experience preferred
