Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department, ensuring all facility systems, production equipment, and infrastructure are operating safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role combines hands-on technical work with supervisory responsibilities, requiring strong mechanical aptitude, leadership ability, and an unwavering commitment to workplace safety in an industrial fabrication environment.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee all maintenance department personnel, including scheduling, task assignment, performance management, and training and development.
• Plan, prioritize, and execute preventative maintenance programs for all plant equipment, machinery, and facility systems.
• Maintain, repair, and overhaul fabrication and production equipment, including overhead cranes, press brakes, forming rolls, beam lines, saws, shears, welding equipment, and machine shop equipment, including lathes, mills, and drill presses.
• Ensure related metal fabrication equipment is properly maintained, guarded, and calibrated.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, including pumps, motors, compressors, valves, drive units, and related systems.
• Perform and supervise routine maintenance activities, including lubrication, inspection, component replacement, welding, and machining.
• Maintain accurate equipment records, including maintenance logs, service histories, inspection reports, and equipment readings.
• Develop and manage preventative maintenance schedules to minimize unplanned downtime and maximize equipment lifespan.
• Respond to routine and emergency repair requests promptly, minimizing production disruption.
• Source, order, and manage parts and supply inventory, ensuring critical spare parts are stocked at appropriate levels.
• Identify aging or underperforming equipment and make recommendations for repair, rebuild, or capital replacement.
• Conduct performance testing on plant equipment using appropriate diagnostic tools and instrumentation.
• Coordinate scheduled downtime for major equipment servicing to minimize impact on production schedules.
Other Functions:
• Coordinate and oversee third-party service contracts, including snow removal, lawn care, pest control, fire suppression systems, and HVAC.
• Obtain and review vendor quotes; ensure contracted work is completed on time and to standard.
• Serve as primary point of contact for equipment vendors, parts suppliers, and service technicians.
• Always enforce and model safe work practices, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and electrical safety procedures.
Requirements:
• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Experience maintaining overhead crane systems, including hoists, end trucks, and runway systems.
• Familiarity with metal fabrication equipment, including press brakes, shears, forming rolls, beam lines, and machine shop equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
• Welding, machining, or fabrication experience a plus.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours and respond to after-hours emergencies when required.
