We’re seeking a passionate and driven Head Basketball Coach to lead our two-year college basketball program. In this pivotal role, you’ll mentor student-athletes, elevate their technical skills, instill sportsmanship, and develop strong character—on and off the court.
Examples of Duties:
- Organize and supervise all practices.
- Schedule preseason and regular season contest
- Order all uniforms and equipment needed for the team.
- Conduct staff and team meetings as necessary.
- Interview and hire all assistant coaches for spots assigned.
- Participate in Athletic Department meetings, Hall of Fame banquet, Athletic Awards program.
- Maintain compliance with all College policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with all conference and national organization the program is affiliated with (i.e. NJCAA)
- Maintain CPR and First Aid training.
- Recruit qualified students to participate on team.
- Responsible for the growth and development of assistant coaches and related support staff
- Transport team to contest and events
- Coordinate game-day, recruiting and practice assignments of coaches and volunteers.
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the team.
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities.
- Plans, monitors, and appraises job results.
- Mode; expected behavior that projects and supports the mission of the College.
Typical Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Excellent sales and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to contribute to a safe team environment.
- Associate degree preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least two years experience required coaching the sport.
- Continue to develop in the profession thru study, clinics, and college visits.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred (required when hired)

Work Environment and/or Physical Demands:
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
- Conditions may require walking, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, heavy lifting (less than or equal to 50 pounds), high climbing, bending, working in awkward positions handling equipment and materials.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
- Prolonged periods of walking and standing.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
