Commercial Building Designer/Estimator

Hoover Building Specialists is seeking a full-time Designer/Estimator to join our pre-construction team. This position will be based at our office in Honey Brook, Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will be able to develop cost estimates and manage pre-construction processes for commercial building projects ranging from $500k to $15M+. They will work closely with the sales and drafting teams in the development of building plans. They will work on projects from preliminary design and pricing through full development of construction plans, scope of work, contract preparation and permit submittal.

Designer/Estimator Qualifications:

  • A commitment to the Vision, Mission, and Values of Hoover Building Specialists.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented, organized, self-motivated, and able to collaborate with other team members.
  • Construction knowledge, ability to read blueprints and do take-offs. Ability to understand contractual documents.
  • Proficiency with technology including Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project estimates, ensuring accuracy in pricing and cost control.
  • Oversee construction projects in the pre-construction stage from inception to construction ready.
  • Develop scopes of work and contracts for clients.
  • Prepare building permit applications and submittals.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and clients, providing updates and addressing concerns.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and architects to ensure compliance with building codes.
