Christ's Home Spring Fundraising Dinner 2025
Thursday, May 15, 2025 (6:00 PM - 8:30 PM) (EDT)
Description
From Adversity to TriumphHear Nathaniel Deen’s Inspiring Story at Christ’s Home Spring Dinner
Christ’s Home will be hosting its Annual Spring Dinner Fundraiser on Thursday, May 15th and this year, we are honored to welcome Nathaniel Deen, a former child resident of Christ’s Home Paradise Campus, whose remarkable story of overcoming adversity is now the subject of Brave the Dark, a feature film that premiered in January 2025.
Brave the Dark, distributed by Angel Studios, tells the compelling true story of Nathaniel, a troubled teenager growing up in 1980s rural Pennsylvania. Nathaniel lived at Christ’s Home when he was in grade school. Shortly after he left Christ’s Home, he secretly lived out of his car and attempted to process the traumatic loss of his parents. His life spirals into self-destructive behaviors, however everything changes when Stan Deen, an empathetic English and drama teacher, discovers Nate’s situation, bails him out of jail, and offers him a place to stay. Stan’s unwavering support helps Nate confront the painful truth about his past and find a path toward healing and redemption.
The film highlights the enduring impact of mentorship, resilience, and empathy—qualities that the children at Christ’s Home continue to embody today through our mission of caring for disadvantaged children. It illustrates the challenges and rewards of reaching out to those in need and the profound influence a dedicated mentor can have on a young person’s life.
We invite you to join us at our upcoming Spring Dinner as Nate shares his incredible story—from overcoming hardship to seeing his journey brought to life on the big screen. Your attendance and support will help Christ’s Home continue to provide children with hope, stability, and a loving home.
