What to expect:

Join us at this session of Wake Up to the Issues to learn how the state budget shapes the environment your business operates in! From taxes and workforce funding to infrastructure and regulations, the choices made in Harrisburg will have real consequences for your bottom line and your ability to grow, hire, and plan for the future.

Each year, we host the elected officials who have a direct role in shaping the final 2025-2026 state budget. This is your opportunity to ask questions and make sure the voice of the business community is part of the final negotiations.

What's on the table this year:

On February 4th, Governor Josh Shapiro delivered his third budget address before the Pennsylvania General Assembly. The Governor’s proposed 2025-26 budget totals $51.4 billion, a 7.5% increase over the enacted 2024-25 budget. This budget is balanced through a $1.6 billion draw from the state’s “rainy day” emergency fund, alongside projected revenue from two uncertain sources: the legalization of recreational marijuana and the regulation of “skill game” machines. In the coming weeks, Governor Shapiro will work with the General Assembly to negotiate funding for investments in workforce development, education, housing, economic development, and more.

We’ll hear directly from two legislative leaders shaping the budget conversation:

  • Senator Scott Martin, 13th District, Chair of Senate Appropriations Committee
  • Representative Bryan Cutler, 100th District, Chair of House Education Committee
