What is the Small Business Series?
We're glad you asked! The Lancaster Chamber launched the new Small Business Series in 2021! We have hosted sessions focused on equipping small businesses with the resources they need to succeed. While this is called the Small Business Series it's not just for small businesses. We encourage anyone to participate, no matter the size of your business.
What to expect:
Employees are your greatest cost and your most important asset. In today's labor market, it can be very difficult to find good candidates using traditional methods of recruiting. Finding people who fit your business needs requires creative approaches and skillful interviewing techniques. This session will discuss these challenges and provide recommendations for finding the best people for your unique business needs.
Meet the speaker:
Catherine Weaver
I am retired from a career in human resource management and leadership development. Working in a variety of industries has broadened my experience and expertise in managing the human elements and challenges in business. As an internal consultant, I coached and guided organizational leaders at all levels toward performance improvement, leadership effectiveness, and talent development. Over the course of my 40-year career, I’ve been responsible for or supported talent acquisition activities including recruiting, onboarding, and job skill training in muti-media, healthcare, manufacturing, retail, and distribution environments.
Although retired, I continue to adjunct with two local colleges in both undergraduate and MBA programs. This keeps me engaged and focused upon current organizational, management, and leadership issues, while enjoying the rewards of supporting and guiding students towards their successful degree completion. I hold a B.A. in Performance Management & Organizational Dynamics and an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Immaculata University. I am also a certified leadership and talent management coach and hold various leadership development certifications. As a SCORE mentor with the Lancaster-Lebanon chapter, I advise and support small business owners and entrepreneurs seeking to establish and grow successful businesses in our community.
In my spare time, I enjoy my active grandchildren, reading, gardening, playing the piano, and personal fitness including training for the 2024 Senior Games (in swimming).
