Description

Date: Tuesday, May 6

Time: 2:30-4:00pm

Location: 20 East Clay Street, Lancaster

Cost: Free

You’re invited to participate in this behind-the-scenes look at the Clay Street Low Barrier Shelter, a new overnight shelter located in Lancaster City.

This site visit is designed specifically for business and community leaders who want to better understand how our region is addressing homelessness and what role the private sector can play in supporting sustainable solutions. Hosted by the Lancaster Chamber, this session will include a tour of the shelter and a roundtable discussion about the low-barrier model, how it meets immediate needs, and how it connects individuals to long-term stability through community partnerships.

Homelessness doesn’t just affect individuals—it impacts neighborhoods, local economies, and public health. The Clay Street Shelter provides an important safety net while reducing the strain on emergency systems, law enforcement, and local businesses.

Agenda:

2:30-3:00pm - Tour shelter

3:00-4:00pm - Discussion with Lancaster County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (LCHRA)

The shelter is closed during daytime hours, which means this is a private tour when individuals utilizing the shelter are not present.
