Great question! They provide a unique opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of the host business, including requirements to serve the industry. Attendees discover the impact of advancing technologies and view first-hand the initiatives that have been implemented to improve operations. It is also a great way to develop relationships with potential business partners.

In Lancaster County, the largest portion of municipal solid waste is taken to LCSWMA’s Lancaster Waste-to-Energy (WTE) Facility where it is transformed into renewable energy.
Steam generated during the waste combustion process spins a turbine, which creates electricity. LCSWMA generates about 36 megawatts of electricity at a given time. The facility itself consumes six of those megawatts and 25 are sold into the local power grid—enough to power more than 30,000 Lancaster County homes and businesses! The remaining steam is sent to neighboring Perdue AgriBusiness.
